Small accounting / tax preparation office located in Waterford, MI is seeking an experienced administrative assistant / bookkeeper. Full-time permanent position, some weekends and evenings during tax season only (January – April).
Duties and responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure efficient operations of the office. You will support accountants and tax preparers through a variety of tasks related to bookkeeping, support, organization, and communications. Scope includes communicating in person, via phone and email to ensuring that all administrative duties are completed accurately and delivered with high quality and in a timely manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answer and direct phone calls.
Greet and provide general support to clients.
Organize and schedule meetings and appointments.
Maintain contact lists.
Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms.
Filing.
Tracking inventory of office supplies.
Create spreadsheets and other financial workpapers.
Quickbooks data entry and bank reconciliations.
Prepare payroll checks for clients, prepare payroll reports, and process payroll tax payments.
Checking, copying, and packaging tax returns.
Tax return transmissions and acceptance retrievals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
Knowledge of basic individual tax returns.
Understanding of basic financial statements and accounting concepts.
Deadline and detail-oriented.
Excellant written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office.
