About You 
The ideal Director of Health Information at Common Ground is an energetic and motivated leader, knowledgeable about Health Information Management (HIM) services. This leader will be self-motivated and independent, while holding high expectations for the department. Day In The Life 

  • Organize, direct, and manage the activities of the HIM department according to facility bylaws, accreditation and regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
    Supervise operations for release of information, documentation, and deficiency analysis, scanning and archiving, and permanent filing
  • Responsible for scheduling and overseeing daily assignments and monitoring of both quality and quantity of the work completed
  • Develop and manage departmental policies/procedures and performance improvement plans
    Serve as internal subject matter expert and liaison to department managers, staff, providers, and administration relating to health information
  • Establish and administer a process for receiving, documenting, tracking, and investigating complaints concerning privacy policies and procedures
  • Ensure the organization maintains appropriate privacy and confidentiality consent, authorization forms and information notices and material reflecting current legal practices and requirements
  • Work with appropriate departments and individuals to ensure accurate, timely, and complete medical records
  • Educates oneself and stay abreast of state and federal regulations and regulatory agencies, accreditation requirements, and best practices for medical record management
  • Interact with patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional and courteous environment

What You Need To Apply 

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree Health Information management or a related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in HIM or health care setting, preferably behavioral health
  • Experience with and/or thorough knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA Privacy)
  • Active member of professional association(s) with Health Information
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification
