Overview
Peace Lutheran Church (PLC) is looking for an accompanist for their worship and choir.
Accompany worship services:
Play PLC grand piano for weekly worship services on Sunday mornings. Worship time on Sunday currently starts at 9:30am and runs approximately one to one and one half hours. Accompanist is required to arrive at the church and be prepared to accompany the congregation by 9:00am if the choir is not singing that Sunday.
Accompany Choir: Accompanist is to provide music for scheduled choir anthem for choir members to practice prior to the Sunday worship service and arrive no later than 8:30am. Attend weekly choir rehearsals (approximately one and one half hours) and accompany choir members on the Sunday weekly choir anthem.
Prepare music: Prepare and skillfully perform music on the grand piano for Sunday worship including preludes, postludes, liturgy, choir anthem and/or other special musical offerings, and any other assigned music to support the worship service.
Rehearse with musicians: Rehearse with soloists, vocal ensembles, worship leaders and instrumentalists of varying skill levels as needed to ensure musical preparation for services.
Special services: Provide accompanist services for special services such as Christmas Eve, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, weddings, funerals, baptisms or other special services as agreed upon in the Compensation Schedule.
Musical Proficiency:
Keyboard skills, including the ability to sight-read music.
Familiarity with a variety of musical styles, including but not limited to traditional hymns, contemporary praise and worship music and gospel selections.
Accompanist skills.
Collaboration and Communication:
Strong ability to work cooperatively as a team member with pastor, PLC leadership, musicians and other church staff and/or volunteers.
Good communication skills to coordinate with pastor, PLC leadership, musicians and other church staff and/or volunteers.
Professionalism and sensitivity when interacting with pastor, PLC leadership, musicians, other church staff and/or volunteers and congregation members.
Ability to follow direction from the PLC choir leader.
Improvisational skills.
Liturgical experience.
Proficiency on other instruments, i.e. electronic keyboard or organ, etc.
